Who does Helping Hands Homecare assist?
Each client is unique, and we make ourselves as flexible as possible to accommodate a wide spectrum of scenarios. Most of our services are provided for older adults who need assistance to remain independent. Services are also available for the disabled, those recovering from surgery, and individuals who just like having someone around.
Are services covered under private insurance or Medicare?
Most private insurances do not cover personal care services. However, specific types of insurance such as long-term care, workers’ compensation, and automobile insurance often do. Medicare does not offer coverage for in-home care. Your payments are most often made privately by you or a family member. View Medicare’s Eligibility Tool Here.
Are these services safe?
Expectedly, many people are not comfortable with a stranger coming into their home. This is why we take several measures to ensure your safety and security with every member of our staff. In addition to New Jersey’s certification process, we perform our own criminal background check through an independent security company. Reference checks are done to assess the character of each potential employee.
Finally, as a part of our company mission, we emphasize the necessity of ethical conduct. Caregivers are presented with certain ethical situations and asked to respond. Failure to recognize major ethical dilemmas or answers that suggest dishonesty always exclude an applicant from employment.
Is this person going to come into my home and take over?
No. At Helping Hands we stress the need for the caregiver to respect your home and environment. Caregivers work according to the mutually agreed upon “plan of care” to get the job done using the methods you choose. Every consideration is made to preserve your preferred way of life.
Do I select the aid that will assist me?
You and your family are always involved in the selection process. After an initial evaluation where we determine your needs and wants, we select several caregivers who we believe will work best with you. You are then separately introduced to all of these caregivers and choose who you feel is the best fit.
