Keep Track of What You’re Eating
The food you eat fuels your body, so when you start focusing on building up your energy levels you need to look at the fuel you’re using. You might not realize exactly what you’re eating until you start tracking it. This might feel tedious at first, but it gives you a solid idea of what little changes you can start making with your eating habits.
Keep Track of Your Sleep
Tracking your sleep can also give you a good idea where you might be missing some information. A lot of fitness trackers now automatically track sleep for you if you wear them at night. Take a look at whatever data your fitness tracker offers and see whether you’re more restless at night than you realize. If you don’t have a fitness tracker, start keeping track on paper of how much sleep you’re getting and how you feel the next day.
Move a Little More
Exercise seems like an odd choice when you’re trying to build up your energy levels. But even though it takes energy to exercise, you’ll have more energy afterward. You’ll also sleep better and you’ll start to crave foods that are a little healthier for you and that helps to keep your energy going. Talk to your doctor about whether exercise is okay for you before starting.
Lose the Habits that Can Make You Crash
Some of the habits you’re leaning on how to boost your energy levels might be doing your energy levels in. Things like caffeine and sugar actually cause you to crash a few hours after they boost your energy, which really just means that you borrowed that energy early and used it up. It’s much better for you to find other ways to give yourself more energy.
Give Yourself Downtime
Energy is about rest just as much as it is about other factors. Just as sleep helps you to improve your energy stores, so too does downtime. When you’re able to take time away from being a caregiver, you can come back to it with much more energy.
Your energy levels won’t leap up overnight, but if you try some of these ideas you might see results faster than you expect.
